My name is Barbara Sharp and I am proud to call Stringtown, Oklahoma my home. I am a past graduate of Stringtown Public School and attended all 12 years here.
I am the first to attend college on both sides of my family, so you can only imagine how excited my family was when I became a college graduate. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, even when I was young. I have always enjoyed helping others learn and grow. I have always had a passion to help care for people.
I attended Southeastern Oklahoma University where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education / Early Childhood Education in the winter of 1993. I began my teaching career at Stringtown in the fall of 1994. I returned to college to pursue a Master’s degree in the fall of 2005. I completed my Master of Education in the Spring of 2007 from East Central University with an option as a Library Media Specialist. I currently teach 4th – 6th Science & Social Studies.
I have three sons, Stephen, Simon, and Shiloh Ratcliff, and four grandchildren: Jayden and Isaiah Ratcliff of Stringtown, OK, and Remington and Hadassah Ratcliff of Verdigris, OK. I have two dogs, Lucy who is 13 years old, and Gus who is 2 years old, and one cat named Shotgun.
In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, playing the piano, learning to play the mandolin & banjo, cooking, camping, fishing (fly fishing is my favorite), I enjoy running, walking, bicycling, I love my community, and enjoy helping out with community events, and spending time with my Dad, children, and grandchildren. I will be a Stringtown Tiger for life!
